Rooted in childhood, design and pedagogy

PLAY+ was developed in Reggio Emilia through collaborations between designers, educators and architects, exploring how children experience space through colour, texture and play.

The story behind PLAY+

PLAY+ is a furniture line born from an idea of Maurizio Fontanili in 2001 in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and developed under the artistic direction of ZPZ Partners, an architectural studio based in Modena. We offer two furniture ranges for children’s spaces, made in Reggio Emilia: PLAY+ SOLID and PLAY+ SOFT. Both ranges are the result of collaborations with over 30 designers.

Each piece is carefully designed with children’s age and level of autonomy in mind. It helps transform the environment into “the third teacher,” fostering creativity and nurturing each child’s sense of individuality.

Our range of furnishings brings new sensory qualities into children’s environments through visual and tactile softness, varied textures, and a rich, nuanced palette of colours that go beyond the simplicity of red, yellow, and blue. The aim is to create stimulating spaces where children can grow, explore, and shape their identities, offering tools for discovering new ways of experiencing space.

PLAY+ SOFT

Line of soft furniture for children, comprising over 250 products developed with the pedagogical consultancy of Reggio Children.

PLAY+ SOLID

Built on the belief that a child’s environment is defined by both its spatial and sensory qualities. This includes more subtle aspects of space, such as acoustics, colour, light, and the textures of materials.
